Olota of Ota Tasks F.G. On Roads, Urges For Passing Fed Roads To State Govt

...Gave Kudos to Governor Abiodun for his sincerity

The Olota of Ota, Oba Abdukabir Obalanlege on Sunday called on the Federal Government to pass on to the state government or local government for adequate care and proper maintenance, the hitherto Federal Government Roads (Trunk 'A') .

The Ota royal father made the appeal during the re-union meeting of some old students including the Kabiyesi, of the Ogun State Polythecnic, now Moshood Abiola Polythecnic  (MAPOLY) at a place in Ota.

Members of the old students union, led by the Area Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Commander Ajibade Adekunle, during an interrative session had urged the Kabiyesi to influence the government on the need to get roads like Ilogbo, Agbara and Sango/Abeokuta Expressway fixed as people in Ota community, in that axis suffer untold hardship as a result of bad roads.

Speaking with bitterness, most speakers who spoke in turn, were not happy with the state of roads in Ogun state particularly Ota which Internally  Generated Revenue ( IGR) is high because  of its being an industrial community.

The Olota said he has done very much in making the government at all levels realised the yearning of the people in Ota concerning the bad roads, stressing that only the state Governor Dapo Abiodun was sincere with his promise. Other past administrations have been unfaithful in their promises.

"I have met with the Minister of Works and Housing,  Mr. Babatunde Fashola. I met with former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, all their promises failed to materialise.

But I give kudos to the present Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun whose promise has begun to yield positive returns within the short time of his reign. I pray he reigns for eight years. He has fixed Itele and Navy roads which will be commissioned very soon.

"This is why I strongly believe the so-called Federal Roads should be given to either state or local government for better care.

"Whatever is allocated to such roads in the Federal budget should be shared with the state or local authority as the case may be.

"They cannot sit down in Abuja and monitor state of roads in places like Lagos and Ogun. Even overseas, roads are allocated to county councils.  Why should situation in Nigeria be different? I want to believe that people in the government here know what I'm saying. Most of them studied abroad, so they should stop playing politics with our lives.
